The CN9-A also has a number of special abilities. It has a reputation for toughness and, for a medium ‘mech, it mostly lives up to it. But as most later upgrades lessen structure, the CN9-A does just fine. The structure good as well, the Succession Wars era not having a lot of choice on structure. The armor is good for a medium ‘mech, the max armor value a 50 tonner can have is 6 and the CN9-A is just short of that with a five. But if you’re going to focus on one range band, the medium range band would definitely be my most common choice. It has one drawback as a Brawler, due to the LRM’s minimum range, and the lack of additional short-range bracket fire weapons, the CN9-A does less damage at short than at medium. It has some long range from an LRM rack, but gets more deadly at medium range with an autocannon and medium laser. A bare minimum of maneuverability (8” MV) to be considered medicore (for its time). The one exception is the unique, Yen Lo Wang. But due to the high production in two spread out realms, and the general chaos of the Succession Wars, the Succession Wars era Centurions are widely available, to everyone and everyone they know. Built by Corean in both Free Worlds and Federated Suns space, the Free Worlds League factory was destroyed during the 2nd Succession War, leaving the Federated Suns as the primary user, and the source of most later versions. One of those rare ‘mechs that appeared after the fall of the Star League that was not just a downgraded version of an older ‘mech. The Centurion is a product of the Succession Wars.
